Bravo bravo on this!! I haven’t had my colors done BUT I don’t feel great in pastels (which probably says something about my season) so this was great to read. My favorite of your tricks is to dye clothes the colors that you like best AND just buying black all the time 🤣

Thank you Kelly 💘 And same here — trends are trends but the whole color season discourse really did help me see why certain colors never worked for me & why I’ve thrown out countless pastel tops over the years!

Also, what helped me understand which colors don’t work is eyeshadow. I know that any cool toned eyeshadow washes me out entirely so that was another indicator along with everything else that I’m a warm toned person.

LOL im with you on buying black all the time… it’s actually a problem for me, especially with shoes 🫠

My husband laughs because I genuinely have 4 pairs of black boots lined up next to each other in my closet. THEY ARE ALL UNIQUE THOUGH OK?!

How fun to read something by someone who has the exact opposite problem from my personal struggles when it comes to seasonal shopping. I'll think of you on a gray day in February when I'm shivering in a spring tank top and cotton cardigan, having once again failed to buy enough winter clothes to make it through a laundry cycle.

Sometimes I have a sneaking suspicion that, on average, I might look better in winter colors, but I don't like them and tend to just hunt through spring things until I find pastels that are saturated enough to work with my particular variety of sallow.

Also, thanks for highlighting the fact that Gap is making a genuine effort again--I had given up on them and probably wouldn't have even noticed their new collection until it's gone otherwise.

I also skew to Warm Autumn, Emilee, so I feel your pain over the hideous shades in the stores! I loathe pastels, so tend to thrift more saturated warmer versions of trendy colours, like chartreuse, mustard, orange, orangey-reds, true red, brown, teal, turquoise and rich warm yellow, plus hot pinks and rich purples. I mix them with whites, greys and blacks (I'm not a navy gal) to keep them looking seasonal as needed.

I always encourage people to buy when "their" colours are trendy - or shop secondhand, of course - you never know when they'll come back around. It took brown over a decade to be trendy again this past season!

Loved this, thank you!

Im with you there! I have noticed such a huge drop in true reds, greens, blues, orange being a colorway for items. It’s mostly always pale versions of pink, purple or a faded green. I want my true rainbow hues !! It actually took me a while to come around on brown as well. I realized it “suits me” better than black does so I thought I’d give it a proper shot :’)

& of course !!! glad u enjoyed ✨🫶🏻

I’m still a black fan, but I’ve always loved rich chocolate browns as a “me” colour. Yes to the rainbow hues!

This was such a fun read! I’m a bright or true winter (can never remember which) so I despite all the spring colours & the ongoing brown resurgence. Truly hideous! Fuchsia / Cerise pink is my personal favourite so I can’t wait for that colour to become back on trend, purely so it’s easier to access 🤣
