Thom Browne is never for me, even though it’s objectively good. The tailoring is clearly expert but I hate the entire vibe for the same reason I find Belle and Sebastian insufferable. It reminds me of the guy who unironically writes using a typewriter, and his writing is actually pretty good but also twee and pretentious because he knows it. Or a perfect little boy that never spills, always shares his toys, and loves his mummy so much. It makes me want to destroy, like the Goya painting of Saturn eating his children.
Emilee, what a super impressive article this is! I commend you for your diligence in watching All The Shows, and then doing a deep dive on so many!
My own notes, just from what you've shown:
- Dior, not my jam, although I agree, that last sparkly orange jumper with the big flower brooch? Would wear that myself.
- Vuitton, pass. Does Pharrell still design for G-Star Raw? This feels very that. I agree, that dark turquoise is gorgeous.
- Prada: just give me that green leather suit and no one gets hurt! I don't care that it's menswear, I will wear it! I'm also terrified of ultra-skinny again, but it's not my first swing of that pendulum, and fuckit, I don't have to wear that if I don't want to! And neither do you!
- Men's jelly shoes?? I both love and loathe them. On the one hand, now they can all show off their snazzy socks, but on the other, how will the menfolk deal with the world that is foot pain from your shoes. Women have a lock on that right now, but I know my own poor delicate flower is practically lame from a blister (talk to me about bunions!). There's no way he's wearing those shoes.
- I don't care for the Celine (to each her own!), but I swooned over the Ralph Lauren.
- Apparently I am a Thom Browne girl?? I have multiple silk scarves with insects on them, and loads of insect/bug brooches - I am ON BOARD for that grasshopper blazer. Gimme!

I wore three bug brooches yesterday, and a bug scarf today (I’ll be mentioning this article in next week’s newsletter). I love creepy crawlies!
